Internet Virus
Whether you think of the many free antivirus programs available options or by subscription in any of them can help protect against threats from the internet. What are some of these threats? and how can they hurt?
Malware, software that enters your computer without your knowledge, has been around since the 1970s. The types of malware are viruses, worms, spyware, trojans, and all programs on your computer to damage or steal your data. These threats can be found on websites, e-mail attachments, and possibly something downloaded from the Internet.
In 1971, the Creeper virus written by Bob Thomas was found in ARPANET, a technology that so little is known, became the World Wide Web. Once Creeper gained access to your computer system, a harmless message appeared on screen saying: “I am the vine Catch Me If You Can.” Elk Cloner virus was first founded Apple in 1981 as a hoax. Next up was the first computer virus called Brain in 1986, which was designed to combat software piracy.
Although these viruses are written out of curiosity and fun, these innocent intentions quickly gave way to malicious computer programming.
Spyware, for example, is designed to make your surfing habits, which are unsolicited advertisements known as “pop ups” that appear on the computer monitor causes.
Some other examples of malware software is designed to take control of your computer system to take a part of a network called “bot” network.
A botnet (short for robots) can treat millions of infected computers and remotely operated. Botnets are used to advantage in various ways, such as sending bulk e-mail known as spam.
Computer viruses have the unique ability to be copied to the computer and quickly spread through a network, infected hundreds if not thousands of very fast computers. This is achieved using this executable file embedded in an existing program. A user clicks on the file and downloading the virus unwary.
Worms, like viruses may be copied, however, unlike the viruses that no user intervention or integrated into an existing program to spread. Instead, use the computers lost or outdated security software.
A Trojan horse is like the story of the Trojan horse of Greek mythology who guarded the city used deception to enter Troy. This is usually done with malicious payload container as a desirable image, the calendar, or download music. When the user the necessary program that downloads and installs the malware also installed. Trojans can delete files, delete data and install back doors.
The Internet, like the world is full of the good, the bad and the ugly. It is therefore essential to be aware of the risks and have updated antivirus installed and running on your computer.
